Joins nonpartisan class of 25 state and local elected leaders from across the U.S. committed to strengthening democracy and elevating public leadership
Hartford, CT—Connecticut State Treasurer Erick Russell has been selected for the Class of 2027 Rodel Fellowship, the nation’s premier leadership development program for elected leaders.
Each year, the Fellowship selects 24-26 outstanding state and local leaders, divided between the political parties, to come together for a series of three multi-day seminars held over a two-year period. Working with leading scholars as moderators, the Fellows read and discuss classic texts dealing with ethical values, democratic principles, and wise and effective leadership. Those texts include the Declaration of Independence, the preamble to the United States Constitution, and writings by Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King, Jr., among many others.
“I’m honored to join the Rodel Fellowship and to collaborate with leaders who are committed to strengthening our democracy, protecting the rule of law, and tackling some of the most important challenges facing our country and our world,” said Treasurer Russell. “I look forward to sharing the best of Connecticut’s approach to governance and fiscal management with the Fellowship—and to bringing the best ideas from the Fellowship back home to Connecticut.”
Since its founding in 2005, the Rodel Fellowship has helped over 450 state and local elected officials reach their full potential as public servants. These Fellows have gone on to serve as United States senators, governors, mayors, party leaders, Cabinet secretaries, members of Congress, and Vice President of the United States.
